Hey there, Fashionista/os! My name is Natalie Arth and I am currently a junior at the University of Iowa pursuing a major in enterprise leadership. Throughout my two years as a student I’ve learned a lot about who I am and who I want to become. I began my journey at the University of Iowa studying pre-nursing up until my sophomore year. This year I chose to work part-time at a department store, which lead me to where I am at today. I’ve always been inspired and drawn towards fashion and style. This part-time job not only allowed me to put together outfits for customers and the store mannequins but allowed me to see a future in something that I loved.
Many things inspire my personal style, whether it may be scrolling through Pinterest or Instagram, reading my favorite fashion and lifestyle bloggers, watching YouTube beauty gurus or clothing hauls or at my workplace merchandising new fashion clothing. If you open up my closet, you’ll probably find an array of neutrals and blacks (who doesn’t love black clothing?) and the occasional floral romper.
In this look, I was inspired by the idea of a sleeveless trench coat, or in my case, a sleeveless vest. This staple piece is a chic and versatile item that can be used in many ways to give the Fashionista many different looks, used open and worn with a dress, paired with high-waisted jean shorts and lace up sandals or how I styled it. I decided to tie my sleeveless neutral vest and pair it with white ripped jeans and lace-up wedges. To accessorize, I added my gold watch and bracelet, my neutral purse and a pop of contrast with a floppy hat.
Fashion for me is a creative outlet in which I can express my inspirations, my ideas and my personal style. What I love most about fashion is the ability for fashion to highlight someone’s personality without words and also being inspired by how others choose to style their own thoughts.
Overall, I am excited to become a part of the #GuruGang and express my love of fashion and style this summer. Check back on my CollegeFashionista page to get the latest trends this summer.
