I’m back for one last time! Hey there, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! For those of you who are new to my profile, my name is Nicole Echevarria and I’m a senior at the University of Miami. I am studying Elementary Education with minors in Public Relations and Strategic Communications, and this is my fourth and final semester writing for CollegeFashionista.
As a senior, you can’t help but feel nostalgic every second of the day. Suddenly, you’re the oldest class in school, the days of you being a lost freshman are long gone, your biggest worries used to be which frat you were going to pregame with, acing your finals or at most, finding a summer internship worthwhile. Now, you’ve turned into a grandma, who would rather watch Netflix and chill than party during syllabus week. Your biggest problems consist of finding an actual job, in a field you hopefully enjoy, that will pay you enough money to sustain your daily needs. You’re like an actual person now. Congrats! At least you made it this far.
Thanks to my previous experiences, such as writing for CollegeFashionista, working at a top fashion and lifestyle PR agency in Miami, working for a New York based shopping app called Keep and even working events during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, – I’ve been fortunate enough to get a leg up on the obstacles of the real world.
Growing up, I learned a lot about my personal style and what fashion meant to me through my sort of double life. I was born in Miami and was raised there until I was nine years old in which I then moved to the suburbs of New York for the next seven years of my life. I then moved back to Miami for my senior year of high school and the rest is history! Although I grew up in the burbs for most of my childhood, I visited my family and friends in Miami monthly and somewhere along the way my ever changing style was created. As most kids have, I’ve had many style cuts in my life—yet one thing has always remained the same: being bold. Whether it was sporting miss-matching prints or wearing white after Labor Day, I’ve never dressed typically. I push limits, because to me that’s what fashion is really about.
In this look, I let my eclectic style shine through my oversized oxford and distressed acid-wash boyfriend jeans. I kept my accessories simple and opted for a a jeweled Alexis Bittar pendant and a gold Diesel watch. To finish of the look, I’m sporting my favorite pair of adidas and a canvas snakeskin backpack.
Coming into your own is an invaluable journey, and as a Style Guru, I hope to showcase the best of campus street style with many laughs and style changes along the way. Cheers to one last run!
