Hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Nicole Klock, and I am currently a junior at Rutgers University. I am majoring in Journalism and Media Studies and minoring in Art History and Film. This will be my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I am thrilled to show you the latest trends and styles happening on campus!
Ever since I was a little girl I was an avid reader of Seventeen, Teen Vogue and any other fashion magazine I could get my hands on. These magazines were my first glimpse into the fashion world, and I’ve been in love with the industry ever since. Last semester, I fulfilled my dream of working at magazine and was a fashion intern for Redbook Magazine. I was able to work alongside real editors and see the magic that goes on behind the scenes of a fashion spread.
My personal style is a bit like a chameleon and changes from time to time. I love to experiment with different looks that are influenced by how I feel and the atmosphere around me. During my internship at Redbook and venturing off in New York City, I found myself wearing lots and lots of black. But no matter how much my style changes, I am always drawn to vintage items. Thrift stores are my favorite place to shop and are filled with clothes that are inexpensive and unique. My purse featured above is a vintage Dooney & Bourke that I bought in an eBay auction. It is a classic everyday bag that goes with me from season to season.
Some of my favorite items in my wardrobe are booties and high-waisted jeans. My favorite high-waisted jeans are my basic black ones that I wear pretty much every week. They are super flattering and versatile and pair perfectly with my extensive collection of booties. Booties are my go-to shoe for winter and go with everything from jeans and a T-shirt to fancy dresses! My favorite accessory is my watch which is a timeless investment and a statement piece. It’s a great conversation starter for interviews too!
No matter what preferred style you may have, it’s always important to flaunt your confidence and wear a smile! I believe fashion is empowering and inspiring, and it’s one part of your life that allows you to let your creativity flow. Fashion allows you to create your own rules and stand apart from the crowd.
Be sure to check back for my posts every Thursday throughout the semester. I’m looking forward to seeing what fabulous, stylish Fashionistas/os around campus have in store for us!
