Hi, Fashionista/os! My name is Nicole Michael and I am currently a sophomore at Kent State University. I am majoring in fashion merchandising and minoring in fashion media as well as marketing. This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I am so grateful to have this opportunity with such an amazing group!
I grew up in Northern Virginia in a suburb of Washington, D.C. Growing up in this area, a career in fashion is not your typical profession. People never seem to understand why I want to make a living doing something in fashion, but for as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for fashion. I have memories of spending endless amounts of time dressing up my American Girl dolls and always wanting to have the outfit that matched my dolls. At that age, I didn’t know that a career in fashion was even an option. Then with a little bit of time and research, I found out that I could turn my passion into a career.
As for my personal style, I love to be trendy (of course) but being a college student that is always on the go, comfort is something important for my everyday style. Here I am wearing a pair of distressed jeans, a white T-shirt, and a green bomber jacket. A staple in my wardrobe is a good pair of sneakers. Whether I am wearing a casual dress or my favorite pair of jeans I am most likely styling it with a pair of sneakers. Here I am sporting my trusty pair of white high top Vans. I then paired this specific outfit with a simple black choker as well as this New York City skyline necklace. This a typical everyday outfit for me.
Again, I am extremely excited to be a part of the #GuruGang! It’s amazing to be surrounded by so many people who share the same passions as I do.
