Hi there Fashionistas/os! My name is Nikki and I’m 20 years old. I’m a Floridian who moved to Austin after a quick stint in Boston. If it already wasn’t clear, I’m obsessed with travel and it was through these travels that I found my love for fashion. Seeing how everyone dressed and how the styles changed from one city to the next, it was easy to find new ways to think about fashion. My ability to try and see fashion in multiple lights has traveled over with me to Austin, where cowboy boots and hipster trends reign supreme.
However, the city is all about buying local and I think because of this desire to stick to Austin’s roots, my own personal style changes with the waves of the city. I like to pull different trends together in my looks. My personal style is an eclectic, sometimes fairytale-inspired blend of old and new. I love Disney, and I think a lot of my outfits are inspired by my love for the characters and their adventures in these films. Whether it’s for a day out or just heading to class, I always try to add a bit of magic and whimsy to an outfit.
While I love fashion, my true passion is writing. When I’m not playing with my dogs, watching a Disney movie, or shopping you can almost always find me writing. According to my boyfriend, I’m a shopaholic. I’m a big fan of notebooks and have pages and pages filled with story ideas, moments, and memories from trips and daily life. I wouldn’t call myself a person who particularly likes to journal, I just love to write. Writing and fashion for me are incredibly similar. They both tell stories, and I like to be able to find a story behind my own clothes as much as possible.
For this particular look, I wanted to add a bit of texture and color to a typical black and white ensemble. I pulled out a lace blouse, some hoop earrings, and a two-tone backpack to help spice up the look. I added my jacket, which is also a combination of leather and wool to match my black chunky heels. I tend to stick to darker hues in my clothes, but I like to add a pop of color to all of my outfits. In this case, I wanted to show off a darker mint green which is my favorite color of the season.
I’m incredibly excited to start my journey as a Style Guru, and can’t wait for the adventures that await me. I’m so thankful to be creating pieces that will hopefully inspire others and their choices in fashion. I can’t wait for y’all to see my next article!
