Hello Fashionistas! I’m Nikky Zimbrick and I’m a sophomore at University of Colorado Boulder. I’m currently a Marketing/Management major in hopes to one day own a high end clothing store. With my serious love for fashion, I’m beyond thrilled to start my fall semester off with the Style Guru Internship at CollegeFashionista!
It’s funny to think that for the last eight years of my life I wanted to be a surgeon, I’m not sure if I watched too much Grey’s Anatomy or too much Private Practice but I think that’s definitely what caused that aspiration. I started off my freshman year of college as a Physiology major but once I realized that I would be doing this for the rest of my life, my passion quickly faded into loving fashion and the retail industry. My love for fashion started when I was a sophomore in high school, but really developed when I was a senior and able to fit into my mom’s clothes and shoes. I always admired her closet and usually ended up stealing every shoe or shirt she had. I truly do think my sense of fashion bloomed from her, along with my love for shopping!
I’m always on the hunt for the newest and upcoming fashion trends. Because of this I would definitely describe my sense of style as trendy. I also love to wear all different kinds of styles, such as bohemian or edgy. Right now I’m obsessed with crazy distressed boyfriend jeans, graphic T-shirts and anything with a fun pattern on it. Despite my love for fun patterns, I’m firm believer in “less is more” when it comes to accessorizing. I typically tend to wear simple necklaces and earrings to piece together my look!
There’s nothing better than wearing a sundress to class in the summer! It’s breathable, stylish and comfy. I adore this Free People tunic because it’s so versatile. During the summer you can wear it as a sundress or in the winter wear it as a long tunic with a pair of leggings, jeans or tights! Besides the versatility, I love this dress because it has a really fun neckline. Adding a floppy oversized hat to the outfit creates more of a free spirited look; but, most importantly it also can be helpful for those bad hair days! The tan shade of my shoes balances out my look nicely because there’s hints of the color throughout the pattern on my dress. My olive green messenger bag adds a pop of color to this neutral outfit. For a more night out look, take away the olive green bag and replace it with a black bag and a pair of black booties.
I can’t wait to show off not only my, but Boulder’s trendy and eccentric, style throughout this fall semester! Stay tuned, Fashionistas!
