Hello! My name is Olivia Adkins and I’m an undergraduate student at the Ohio State University studying public affairs and avidly attempting to figure out this crazy world called college. This is my very first semester as a Style Guru and I couldn’t be more excited to get started!
I enjoy creating and discovering new ideas in all aspects of my life, not only fashion. I am very passionate about social justice issues and strategies to improve our complex world. I also love to read! My hobbies include blogging, watching videos of dogs online, making lists and shamelessly taking pictures of my lattes.
My personal style is an eclectic mix of classic NYC street style with a splash of boho thrown in. I’m a huge fan of anything neutral and my wardrobe tends to stick to a pretty monochromatic color palette. I really enjoy adding statement pieces, whether it be a standout pair of sunglasses, a loud statement necklace, bright red lips, an edgy pair of heels or all of the above! Bold pieces like these add some pop to my otherwise typically minimalistic ensemble.
The outfit I’m wearing here is a great example of this use of statement pieces. I am loving colored sunnies for the summer, along with a classic pair of boyfriend jeans. They’re comfy, breathable and no boyfriend required. To switch it up for a more casual look I would just change out the heels for a pair of gladiator sandals and voila!
Let’s be honest, it’s summertime you don’t want to be bogged down with deciding what to wear in the morning for forty minutes. Especially when the humidity is probably going to frizz your hair as soon as you step out the door. Easy, effortless and chic outfits are key for this heat. So whether you’re spending the summer abroad in Europe, in biology class, at a chaotic internship or lounging poolside, as the mercury rises I hope your fashion inspiration follows suit!
