Hey Fashionista/os! My name is Olivia Mauriello and I am entering my second semester as a Style Guru. Coincidentally, I am also entering my second semester at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where I study advertising and marketing communications. The transfer from life in my small town to the Big Apple went more smoothly than I had expected, which I can’t complain about. When everything you could possibly wish for is surrounding you, it’s hard to not enjoy it!
Thankfully, my school gives us a month and a half off for winter break, so I was able to do a little bit of traveling in the month of January. From skiing in the chilly mountains of Pennsylvania to soaking up the hot Florida Keys sun, my style has certainly been put up for the ultimate test. I like to say that my style tends to fluctuates with each season, but due to the fact that I was in Florida, my favorite summer trends have definitely shown through. Typically, I steer away from black in the summertime, as I take up the opportunity to wear as many bright and fun colors as possible. But, since I’m forced to be in a winter mode (considering it’s 30 degrees at home in New Jersey), I allowed myself to wear black this one time.
Taking advantage of the warm weather, I automatically brought out my go-to vintage Levi’s shorts. I paired them with my destroyed white T-shirt, which you can find a similar one here, and layered with my favorite high-neck bralette from Billabong. Before heading down to the Keys for vacation, I was able to add a new pair of lace-up sandals, my favorite shoe trend, to my suitcase that I got for super cheap from Traffic.
Hope everyone going back to school has a great semester and I can’t wait to see where this semester as a Style Guru will take us!
