When it comes to fashion, I live by the philosophy: “why wait until tomorrow?” Fashion has the ability to change so quickly. One should always wear what they love and love what they wear. Ever since I was young, I have lived a life that indulged in fashion. I aspired to have Lizzie McGuire’s ever-perfect wardrobe and Raven Baxter’s niche for sewing. Weekends were spent window shopping with my mom, and once I discovered online shopping, many hours were spent filling up the virtual cart with everything that caught my eye.
The older I got the more I realized that fashion was not just a hobby for me but a lifestyle. Unfortunately, my lifestyle did not always “fit in” with fashion. It became apparent to me around middle school that my body would never assimilate to the trends (at the time ripped jeans and logo covered T-shirts were the thing), so I developed my own sense of style that was removed from the popularized brands found at the mall. Although there were many awkward and failed attempts to conform to my peers, I am forever thankful that I have walked to the beat of my own runway. The body I live in has given me a unique perspective on fashion and has shaped me into the Fashionista I am today.
Currently, I am a sophomore at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania where I study Fashion Merchandising. I plan to broaden my horizons and attend the Fashion Institute of Technology my senior year through a visiting student program.
