Hi there! My name is Onyinye Naomi Igboanugo. I attend the University of Notre Dame, and I am getting a little emotional at the moment. Writing this bio is one of the many things I will be doing for the last time as I start my final semester of college. Milestones are pretty scary, but they are also extremely exciting. But before I drown you in my tears, I would like to express how fortunate I am to be a Style Guru. It is an opportunity that truly made my college experience more passion-filled.
I stumbled upon CollegeFashionista while stalking a former Style Guru’s Facebook page, and I was hooked immediately. I had recently started a personal style blog, and I was seeking more avenues to broaden my knowledge on fashion, photography and blogging. My decision to apply for the internship has since been rewarding. As I start my fifth semester with CollegeFashionista, I can’t help but marvel at how far I have come. I have watched my creative skills improve, and I have seen them come in handy in unexpected situations (like my graduate school application essays). Being a Style Guru has taught me a lot about professionalism, meeting deadlines, writing and time management. The best part is, I was able to learn all this while nurturing my passions!
It is rather amusing that many of my friends now ask me for fashion advice. Four years ago, that was not a thing. Four years ago, I also didn’t know how to pull off an editorial look. I would never have bought a pair of culottes. If I did, I wouldn’t have known what to wear with them without consulting the web. I most definitely would not have been able to mentally put this killer outfit together while taking a shower. My months of spotting fashionable people and analyzing runway trends have paid off!
Although I am sad about ending my time as a Style Guru, I am so pumped for this semester. It’s about to be a RAD few months, so be on the lookout every Wednesday for my posts!
