Hola everyone!
I’m Pamela Garcia, a 23-year-old born and raised Venezuelan who moved to the city of dreams a few years ago to pursue two things: a college degree and fulfilling my fashion goals. I got my Bachelors in psychology last year and am working on my masters as a social worker at Hunter College, so we pretty much got one of the two covered.
Regarding fashion, this has been a passion of mine since I was little. I particularly focused on modeling. I was always the scene stealer whenever a camera was near me. I grew up loving to be in front of the camera, as well as dressing it up for any occasion. During my high school years I modeled for local jewelry brands. Once I moved to New York, I made it my mission to break into the scene one way or the other. Between college taking most of my time and realizing how hard it is to be a successful model at only 5’6, I sort of put that aspect of my life in the backburner. However with some time in between undergrad and grad school, I decided that there was no better time than the present. So I signed up for a modeling school/agency and am currently working on my modeling career. I also started a blog right after graduation which allows me to express myself through words, but also clothes.
About my style I’d say it has definitely changed throughout the years, especially once I moved to New York. It went from safe choices to more bold ones. From a simple pairing of jeans and a T-shirt, to skirts with boots. From solid colored dresses with colorful pumps, and a little more exploring in the makeup department. I’ve learned to enjoy the process of glamming it up to go out, even if it’s just for a cup of coffee with some friends or the movies with my boyfriend. There’s simply no excuse not to look good every single day. Life is too short so why not look fabulous in the process?
I want to end by thanking the CollegeFashionista team on this #RAD opportunity. Beginning my journey as a Style Guru is something I’m eager to do and I promise to enjoy it to the fullest. Watch out world, there’s a new Fashionista in town!
