Hello style lovers! My name is Paulina, but you can call me Lina and this is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. My articles will be featured every Friday where I am thrilled to be apart of a passionate community and cannot wait to share my favorite styles with you. I am currently a Psychology major at Hunter college with an interest in Nutrition.
I was born in Manhattan and raised in Queens, which I still call home. I have traveled a bit to know my heart truly lives in New York City. From the endless activities, to the myriad stylish people, the culture and the food (oh, the limitless options of food to become acquainted with), New York has it all for me! It fits in perfectly with my profound love for style, health and adventure.
I can pinpoint the year I discovered style and fashion and how deeply I fell in love. I went over to a friend’s house in seventh grade and she was going to dinner with her family that evening, but didn’t know what to wear. Let me start off with saying: this friend had a closet filled to the rim of beautiful clothing. The patterns, textures and hues were incredible in comparison to my hand-me-downs. I helped select a chic and vibrant outfit, leaving her in disbelief as she said she never would of considered this on her own. Following this, I felt inspired to build a killer wardrobe of my own as I began to save my allowance to purchase a shirt, necklace or pair of shoes every other week.
My style evolves with new trends, trial and error, confidence and inspiration. I am obsessed with denim (I honestly own eight different denim button-downs), polka-dots, cheetah print, red hues, mascara and lipstick. This summer I want to step out of my comfort zone and explore edgier trends. Aside from my internship, I am taking a course in mathematics, being a part-time caregiver (to my favorite four-year-old in the whole world), tweaking my health routine and indulging in spontaneous weekend adventures. Overall, I can’t wait to share my summer finds and trends with you.
