Hi everyone! My name is Penda and this is my third time returning as a Style Guru (time flies)! In the fall, I will be a senior at the University of Toronto, studying political science and African studies. I don’t remember how I heard about CollegeFashionista but I have met some amazing people through my internship, so I’m happy I decided to join.
I love the concept behind being a Style Guru because it allows me to explore on my writing and photography, two things I love! I’ve also learned how to observe those around me more carefully, as I have to be on the lookout for fabulous street style ensembles!
In terms of my personal style, I would say I mostly do preppy and chic looks. However, recently, I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone. An item I’ve been obsessed with for the past weeks are thigh-high boots.
I’ve always had a pair but for some reason I never wore them. I think because it was hard for me to find a look to combine them with. After going through my closet and making a mess in my room, I finally found an outfit that works for me: the boots, paired with a body-con dress and duster coat.
As you can see in the photos, I went for a simple and minimalistic theme by wearing dark colors such as gray and black. I didn’t accessorize much because I felt like the shoes brought everything out and were a nice statement piece.
When I’m not writing essays on politics or reading articles, I’m focusing on shoots for my style and beauty blog, which I started in May 2014. One of my goals for this summer is to expand it and collaborate with other creative people!
