Hello, my name is Peter Leung, and I am a junior studying Advertising at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I was born and raised in the city of Chicago, and that is where I will be spending my summer interning for CollegeFashionista. Chicago is by no means small and has diverse groups of people from all different backgrounds. I am excited to share with you the many colors and styles that Chicago has to offer.
During my free time, I enjoy painting and drawing, reading novels, discovering new music and watching TV shows and movies. Growing up with an interest in the arts led me to invest time and take visual arts classes in high school. It was there that I really started discovering that my passion was for working in the fashion industry. I guess you could say that I had a physical makeover in high school, where I decided to change my wardrobe and buy brand name clothes. Eventually, I started to develop my own style and dig through my parent’s vintage clothes and go thrifting for unique clothing. By then, I had my heart set on fashion design because I can create my own clothing.
My personal style is quite eclectic; I see myself as a chameleon that is always changing colors and styles. My style is heavily influenced by Korean pop culture, the punk rock era, the emo era, the hippie movement and everything from the 1980s. For this look, I wore a faded-out Batman logo T-shirt with cut denim jean shorts. Overall it’s an outdoorsy, hipster style, so I wore a pair of muddy black leather Converse to complement the outfit. To add some flare and personality, I tied a plaid shirt around my waist, wore a Mickey Mouse watch and a golden owl necklace.
I hope you enjoy reading my blogs as I share with you the diverse and fashionable people of Chicago! Please don’t hesitate to like or share my blogs as well.
