Hey Fashionista friends, I’m Rachel! I am from Los Angeles and a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin Madison, majoring in fashion design. I know you’re probably thinking that Wisconsin may not be the most fashionable place in the world, however the students on campus have AMAZING style from game day to nights out which I can not wait to expose to the CollegeFashionista community. I’ve wanted to work in fashion my whole life so I am studying to have a brand of my own one day. It is my first time writing for CollegeFashionista and I am so excited to be here!
In my opinion, trends come and go all the time. The most important thing to me is to have a strong sense of my own personal style. Simple basics are the staple to my wardrobe. Almost all of my outfits are built around simple and classic pieces that I know always look good. That said, I do try to always add in trendy flares or a statement piece to complete the look. I think everyone should know what they like and don’t like, and from that point it’s easy to incorporate trends into your style in your own way!
In this look, I’m wearing a simple white T-shirt, dark blue jeans with a zipper detail, black booties, and a statement suede jacket. A bold jacket like this is a great way to make even a white T-shirt look trendy. Plus, booties are an awesome way to create a look that works from day to night.
