Hey guys! My name is Rachel Glynn and I am a junior at Syracuse University studying Photography and Fashion. I’m so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista, bringing our campus’s fashion to light, showing everyone you can still look cute in the cold.
My love for fashion sparked first from my mother. She was a designer and always taught me to make my own cloths and purses and she never stunted my exploration of fashion no matter how weird it may have gotten as a seven-year-old. I have worked in retail for about five years now and I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life. Merchandising is my specialty. I am given the opportunity to set up displays and dress the mannequins in my choice of outfits, which is my favorite part. I get to decide what pieces go best together and it is always a small reflection of my own fashion sense. I like to take a little risk sometimes because without risk the fashion industry would never grow.
I definitely take inspiration from life around me. When I see something I like I go after it. My style consists of a little bit of everything from boho chic to edgy to grunge depending on my mood. On a regular day I never leave the house without my white high-top Converse and oversized sunglasses. I love walking around campus and seeing what students are wearing gathering inspiration for myself. A college campus is like your own personal shopping experience with the small challenge of finding what they have but making it your own.
This winter hasn’t been as cold as most, so rocking my knit sleeve denim jacket keep my outfits cute and fun without hiding them under an oversized North Face. My goal this winter is to show different types of trends in this frigid weather so check back every Monday to inspire you to dress up your Monday and get out of those sweats!
