Hey there fellow Fashionista/os! My name is Rachel Halpin, and I am super excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team for yet another RAD semester. Being a Style Guru has been one of the most amazing opportunities. Not only does it give me an outlet to connect to you guys, but it helps bring the world of fashion at my school to individuals all over. I am a sophomore at Mercyhurst University, where I am majoring in fashion merchandising, with a minor in sociology. Fashion has always been a prime interest for me, which means that I love writing about it and further look forward to making it a life long career. I have lots of different interests. I love working out and I especially love shopping. Not only do I have a diverse array of interest, my style is also incredibly versatile. I make sure to never limit myself to one specific style, instead I like to encompass different styles that enhance however I may be feeling.
This look is rather casual and comfy. Since I do live in one of the snowiest cities in the United States (Syracuse, New York), I had to make sure my outfit could brave the cold. This winter I have been a huge fan of sweaters. This sweater is simple and neutral in color, but it’s also super cool and stylish as it is off the shoulder. I also really love chokers, and this one is my new favorite. It adds a little edge to the look for sure. I paired this super comfy sweater with a simple pair of black ripped jeans and knee high boots, two classic go to piece for myself. As I mentioned before, the weather in my hometown is extremely cold. This coat is the perfect piece to keep me warm. Not only is it warm, but it is trendy. It certainly makes a statement with its bold plaid pattern. And of course, I had to wear a hat with a pom pom. Not only does it keep my ears warm, it adds a little spunk to the look.
While writing about other Fashionista/os outfits, I have begun to take a closer look at my own. I’ve tried to express myself through my style amidst everything I wear. This is why I love fashion. Its ability to be so versatile and personal is what makes it so desired. Fashion has always given me a platform. A platform to be myself and to love who I am, something everybody should experience. This is why I enjoy writing for CollegeFashionista so much. I am able to see the impact that fashion has on those around me and translate it into a format where others can do the same.
With that being said, I am super excited about this upcoming semester. I look forward to giving you a glimpse into the wonderful, diverse world of fashion at my home away from home, Mercyhurst. Here’s to a RAD and inspiring semester!
