Hi Fashionistas/os. My name is Rachel Jankowski, and I am entering my junior year at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I am studying fashion business management. This is going to be my first semester with CollegeFashionista, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for me.
I am originally from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. I could not wait to trade in the beach life for the city life. Ever since I got here, in 2014, there hasn’t been one moment where I regretted that decision. There is always something to do which I was not used to in Florida. Everyone says if you are bored in New York City then you are doing something wrong. This saying couldn’t be truer. The amount of the city that I still haven’t explored and the amount of events and activities that I have attended is just tremendous. Making this move has made me a much more independent person, and I would highly recommend it. I came to New York knowing absolutely nobody and was completely out of my comfort zone. I can’t imagine having done it any other way.
Now that you know a little bit about my background, I can explain my style. It varies from where I am currently living. An aspect that never changes though is that I like to keep my outfits simple and then jazz them up with my accessories. This is an outfit that was my go to for summer nights out. The off the shoulder trend was perfect for the Florida sun. When I wear an off the shoulder shirt, I like to put my hair up in a bun so I can really show off the shirt. Since my neckline would have been very empty I decided to add the lace up choker to really bring the outfit together. I finished the look with a denim wash that was almost identical to the shirt and then my lace up sandals.
