“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.” —Karl Lagerfeld
Clothing has a lot of influence on how you carry yourself, your mood and consequently how others perceive you. There is no better feeling than wearing an outfit that makes heads turn with every step you take. You know, that one outfit that makes you look so good, you have to go somewhere, even if it’s just the grocery store? When I’m feeling down, I don’t curl up in an old pair of sweatpants. For me, sweatpants make me feel frumpy and, frankly, a mess. Instead, I put on a cute blouse, my favorite jeans, some gold accents, Birkenstocks and head out to get coffee and flirt with the cute barista.
My name is Rachel Newman, a sophomore majoring in Graphic Design at James Madison University. Fashion has been, and always will be, a passion of mine. I am a firm believer in the ‘look good, feel great’ philosophy. For me, clothes exude who you are. It’s your brand. What better time than college to discover your brand?
I’m hoping that I can help you discover what outfits make you feel confident in yourself. For me, wearing classic items such as a white crisp collared shirt and trench coat. Adding dark denim jeans and some riding boots keep the outfit casual, while also looking professional. I’m also addicted to gold accessories, but what’s really in style is mixing silver and gold. So have fun, get creative, and mix and match accessories to add style, texture, and flare. (Hint: Silver makes your skin look tanner.)
Fashion has allowed me to be creative and confident. I can’t wait to help you discover your brand and boost your confidence!
