The new year is just around the corner and I am excited to begin my second semester as a Style Guru! As a student of the University of California, San Diego I am often surrounded by a diverse set of students who are not all exposed to the world of fashion. Thus, with my role as Style Guru for CollegeFashionsita, I have been forced to search through this sea of Tritons to discover the most stylish Fashionista/o’s on campus. This internship has definitely tested my abilities in communicating and developing relationships with fellow students who share the same interests in fashion and the industry.
If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I happen to go through tons of phases. Whether it is the music I listen to or the celebrities I fan-girl over, I tend to really involve myself in these phases and pour out my heart and soul into acquiring as much information as I can store in my brain. I’m sure many can also attest to those countless hours spent surfing the web and on Wikipedia looking for your favorite band, designer or television show. When it comes to my personal style, I do not limit myself to one seasonal trend. I can be seen wearing the most girly outfit one day and sporting a look reminiscent of the goth era (choker and all) the next. I don’t take fashion too seriously and when it comes down to it, comfort is my number one priority when I stand in front of the closet contemplating on what attire is most appropriate for that day. In this particular outfit, I layered on a cropped striped long-sleeve over a dress and threw on my trusty Dr. Martens for a touch of masculinity.
As a stylist and writer for Trend Magazine, a student-run magazine at my university, and a blogger for my personal site The Rachel Story, I am confident that I have the eye to spot the right Fashionista/o’s roaming around San Diego. I look forward to begin the year 2015 with many projects underhand, including this awesome internship for CollegeFashionista. Please look forward to my weekly articles and show me some love and support by clicking the “RAD” heart!
