Well, hello there! My name is Rachel Robinson and I am a rising junior at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where I am studying accessory design and fashion marketing. I am originally from Colorado, and while I love the South, the mountains will always be my true home.
Before we go any further, there’s something I want to clear up. Are you currently wearing a form of clothing? Did you personally pick out said clothing? If you answered yes to the previous questions, then congratulations! You are a Fashionista/o just like me! It is my personal belief that it does not take an immense amount of knowledge regarding the fashion industry and its current trends to have an impeccable sense of style. I honestly don’t take the “rules” of fashion very seriously. My motto is if you like it, then wear it. Fashion should be fun and I think all too often we over-complicate it.
My personal style is predominantly made up of classic pieces with simple silhouettes, combined with whimsical and somewhat outlandish accessories. I have an ongoing infatuation with novelty handbags, like the hot air balloon bag I’m carrying here. They are like little pieces of portable art, and I love the subtle irony that goes along with them.
I am beyond excited to be a Style Guru this semester, and to give you a little peek into Savannah style! So grab a glass of sweet tea and follow me (and my crazy purses) around these historic streets, while I look for the best style SCAD has to offer.
