Hi, friends! I’m Rachel, and I am a senior at Oneonta State University. My graduation date is fast approaching, and I am more than thrilled to obtain a degree with a fashion and textiles major and a minor in business communications. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work in the fashion industry; creativity and self-expression is much more appealing than sitting in a cubicle from day-to-day.
I love being able to express my mood and my personality through my clothes and accessories. Creating a look doesn’t have to be “cookie-cutter,” and it does not have to follow the latest trends. The ability to have total control over what you wear and how you look is one of the things that drew me into the industry. My opinion on fashion is simple: wear what makes you happy, not what makes other people happy.
My style ranges from one extreme to another, but whose doesn’t? Like many other people, my wardrobe (and my favorite color) is black. No matter what inspires me, my clothes are generally neutral colors, but sometimes include colorful statement pieces. Neutrals are what make-up my everyday look, so what better for my Style Guru article than a look dedicated to neutrals?
Everyone needs a pair of black jeans, it’s like the “little black dress” but for your legs! I personally love ripped denim, but non-ripped is just as good. Additionally, basic T-shirts are great to pair with almost anything. Tie it all together with some patterned flats and a classic leather jacket, and you have a timeless look great for everyday! To further transform this look, I added a unique choker necklace (I love the fact that chokers have been brought back) and a messy ballerina bun to my hair. Last, but certainly not least, I did a sharp winged eyeliner to add a little edginess to the look. If there is something I love more than clothes, it’s makeup!
I’m so excited to be part of such an amazing opportunity, and I can’t wait to interact with my fellow Fashionistas! Be sure to follow me on social media to see what I’m up to and to see sneak-peaks of my upcoming articles!
