Hello everyone! I hope this post finds my readers well! First, let me start out by introducing myself. I am a junior at the University of Kentucky studying Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles, and this is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista. I fell in love with fashion from a young age and was completely captivated by every aspect. Being from Kentucky, I sometimes felt as if I was the only one who was interested in fashion. When this would happen, I would run out and buy the latest issue of whatever fashion magazine I could get my hands on and get lost in the editorial spreads. The documentary, The September Issue, reaffirmed what I always knew; fashion was something I most definitely wanted to have a career in. Wholeheartedly pursuing this dream, I ended up in New York City this summer as an assistant to a designer in SoHo and fell in love with fashion again. The city breathed a new life into my wardrobe, and re-energized my desire to be a part of the fashion industry.
Over the years my style has evolved. I love to mix patterns, as seen by my camouflage jacket paired with my cheetah booties. Another go to staple for me is throwing a fun jacket over a simple dress. Lately I have been buying many maxi dresses, as they are the perfect simple piece to help ease the transition from summer to fall. And none of my outfits are complete with out at least one eye—catching statement piece and my bright lips!
I am so excited to share my love of fashion with those around me and I can’t wait to see how all of you Fashionistas inspire me this semester!
