Hello and welcome back! For those who don’t know me, my name is Rachel and I am currently a third-year journalism student at the University of Toronto. I am also a Toronto-based writer, reporter, and on-air radio personality. I decided to put my love for entertainment and broadcasting to use by producing and hosting a radio show on the campus radio station. My show, Made In Entertainment, is broadcasted live on Fusion Radio every week. In addition to broadcasting, I enjoy writing as well. As an avid television and movie watcher, I am currently a writer for SpoilerTV. I also recently signed on to be a video editor for an international television station.
Though my passion is not in fashion, I am the type of person that wants to try everything. I was never a fashion geek growing up. Even now, my fashion style is mostly comfort over style, but I do like the occasional accessory (or two). My favourite accessory of the month is definitely a tie between my Withings Activité Steel and my Peruvian scarf. To the naked eye, the Withings Activité Steel looks like a normal, elegant watch. The watch actually doubles as a step/sleep tracker. If your New Year’s resolution was to do more exercise, the Withings Activité Steel watch is perfect for you because it subtly tracks your steps while you rock that workout! Also, bonus points because it’s one of the very few trackers that is waterproof (so yes, you can shower or wash dishes with it on). In Toronto, winter weather means a scarf and a vest are essentials to your outfit. I always choose to wear a vest and a comfortable long-sleeved t-shirt regardless of where I go or what I do. A vest just adds an extra layer of warmth, something that I need in the cold, wintery weather (and where I work, because it always feels so cold there). My scarf was a gift from a dear friend of mine who visited Peru and is also one of my most treasured clothing items. The pattern and colour scheme makes pairing it with other outfits effortless and painless. To finish up my outfit (and if the weather permits), my go-to choice for shoes are a pair of sneakers. They’re comfortable and allow someone as clumsy as me to move around with ease (though I still occasionally trip on air).
I am extremely excited to be retuning this spring to CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru. It’s definitely a new style of writing that I have yet to get used to, but enjoy because it allows for myself to get accustomed to different styles of writing.
In my spare time, you can find me reading a good mystery book while enjoying a cup of coffee on my porch or scouring Twitter for breaking news.
