My name is Raven Berzal, and I am a junior at Syracuse University. (Side note: How did that happen? Wasn’t I a freshman just like…yesterday?). Anyway, I am majoring in Public Relations in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and minoring in Music Industry. I have also recently enrolled in a Fashion and Beauty concentration program.
During the wintertime, I find that I ask myself at least once a day why I chose to attend the “second snowiest college campus in the United States,” according to Accuweather, in the middle of nowhere Upstate New York. However, as soon as the sun comes out in Syracuse, there is no place I would rather be. I truly love my university and cannot imagine myself anywhere else right now—below freezing temperatures and all. Something I noticed from my very first day at ‘Cuse was the incredible style that the campus collectively displays, male and female students alike. Whether an outfit is designer or thrifted from 3fifteen, everyone seems to have a unique style that sets them apart as individuals on a campus of almost 15,000 undergraduates. I am so excited to bring this unparalleled source of inspiration to CollegeFashionista this summer and share it with all of you, my fellow Fashionistas/os!
I’m a lover of all things designer and high fashion. I worship Karl Lagerfeld, stalk the runways during New York Fashion Week and read Harper’s Bazaar religiously. The truth of the matter is; however, that I cannot even afford a hair tie by any of my favorite designers. Hello, I’m your stereotypical broke college student! With that in mind, I am a strong believer that it is possible to get the look for less. This is a concept that guides almost all of my fashion related purchases and outfit decisions every morning.
I am not one to dwell on appearance, but I believe that the way one dresses is a projection of the innermost being, and therefore sets the path for all perception and interaction. My style changes day-to-day and truly depends on the piece in my closet that inspires me most that day. I find an excuse to wear heels as often as I can, and I am pretty much always overdressed for the occasion (which is something I have learned to embrace). I love following trends, but I tend to only invest in the basics. Ideally, I can be spotted sporting dainty accessories, ripped denim, flannels, lots of white lace or most definitely a go-to romper. In the summer, my style definitely tends to lean more toward the boho side.
I am also obsessed with makeup and beauty products. I watch YouTube tutorials and read reviews daily. (Feel free to recommend your favorite blogs and channels). Nothing makes me happier than a new lipstick. I really hope to incorporate this into my time here at CollegeFashionista, as well!
I can’t wait for you all to see what I have in store for this summer! Turn up ‘Cuse.
