STYLE GURU BIO: Sam Swantek

Greetings fashion lovers! After taking two semesters off to focus on my studies, I am back with a hankering for all things stylish and a 4.0. #HumbleBrag.

As our glorious holiday break comes to an end and another grueling semester revs up again, many of us are sadly spewing the famous words of one Justin Bieber; “What do you mean?”

Yet, spring classes have officially sprung, scattering bright floral blooms all over my Free People tunic. This is my favorite gift I received over the holiday season, and it was a gift that I gave to myself. Who knows you better than you, am I right? I love a good closet staple, so I donned my favorite dark skinny jeans tucked into suede fringe ankle booties that are arguably the coolest pair of shoes I’ve ever owned. My BCBGeneration ostrich-embossed clutch is the perfect size for encasing all essentials, and gives an unexpected pop of color to my ensemble. I’m a strong proponent of wrist candy and can always be seen with a minimum of three adornments on my arm. My favorite bracelet reads, “Believe,” and motivates me to keep pursuing my dreams. As a finishing touch, I’m representing my favorite trend of the moment—hats—in this adorable little number from Free People. Can you tell I love their clothes?

As a Sales Associate at Anthropologie, I’m a sucker for a bold print and also appreciate a new twist on a classic. I would describe my personal style as laid-back with a bohemian twist. I like to dress up, but I love throwing on my converse with boyfriend jeans for ultimate comfort. As Bianca Stratford once said, “There’s a difference between like and love, because I like my sketchers but I love my Prada backpack.”

I’m currently attending FSU as an Editing, Writing and Media major with a double minor in Communications and Psychology, and considering adding a third minor in going to coffee shops. My favorite activities include hiking, yoga and taking to my mom, and I can’t function in the morning without green tea. I’m a self-proclaimed kale-a-holic, but am also frequently seen eating chocolate. Life’s too short not to indulge a little, which is a mantra I stick to in both my diet and shopping habits—and is also heavily reflected in my bank account. To me, the most important things in life are family and pursuing your passions, which my family always helps me do. I love to write, and when I’m not penning about college street style, I’m editing for the Her Campus chapter of FSU. In five years, I’d love to be living in Boston pursuing a master’s degree at Emerson, with a trustworthy companion in a German shepherd and an apartment with exposed bricks. A girl can dream!

This is going to be a fun and stylish semester, and I hope you follow along on the journey with me! Until next time…
