Hey there, Fashionistas!
My name is Samantha Ockerlund, and I am a senior this year at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I am majoring in textile and apparel management with an emphasis in apparel marketing & merchandising. I have the pleasure of returning as a fall 2016 Style Guru, after an awesome summer semester in 2015. I have always been extremely creative and visually oriented, and my love for fashion started as a little girl. As the famous Kate Spade once said, “Playing dress up begins at age 5 and never truly ends.”
I would describe my personal style as very casual, with a feminine and edgy twist. I always like to base my outfits off of classic pieces, like the awesome distressed jeans that I am wearing with more interesting items that feature current trends, like this lace-up white tee. I am a true girly girl, so I can never leave an outfit without completing it with some sort of feminine twist like these black, lace-up heels that make this casual ensemble just a little bit more sophisticated. My absolute staple fashion item will always be a plain, black leather jacket, like the one I am featuring with this outfit. Nothing pulls a look together like a perfectly structured jacket! I topped it all off with my favorite Rebecca Minkoff baby pink satchel bag to add a slight pop of color, and my look was complete.
I am so excited to spend this semester as a Style Guru among so many talented and creative individuals. I can only hope to inspire them as much as they have inspired me!
