Hey Fashionistas/os, my name is Shadé Alli and I’m a Fashion Merchandising sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Fashion has been such a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. However as a child I didn’t understand what being fashion-forward meant, and because of that I didn’t appreciate the fashion sense my mother was attempting to instill in me. Let’s just say our trips to the mall tended to be a bit dramatic. My outlet was making my own clothes, and overtime designing became my passion. As I’ve grown up, I’ve become more and more fascinated with all the different aspects of the fashion industry, including writing.
I have always been a creative writer, only recently I’ve directed my writing towards fashion. That is why it’s such an honor and privilege to be chosen as a Style Guru intern for the summer. CollegeFashionista is the perfect source for all things college fashion. Whether you’re looking to try a new trend you’ve seen on campus or you’re just in search of some style inspiration, CollegeFashionista is guaranteed to help you. I am so excited to contribute to helping the greater good through this platform in addition to giving you all a glimpse into my fashionably diverse world that is VCU.
VCU is full of people who embrace their own style and aren’t afraid to take risks. In terms of my own personal style, I’d say I’m very versatile. I love getting dressed up and trying new trends. If I’m not trying something new my look is most likely edgy, girly or a combination of the two. My favorite example of this would be pairing a floral dress with a studded bag and maybe even a leather wrap bracelet.
Fashion has and will always be my passion. I can’t wait to share my campus and my love for style with you all.
