Hello everyone, my name is Shannon Downey and I am very excited to be a Style Guru this summer! I’m a sophomore marketing major at SUNY New Paltz and plan to work in the fashion industry. I’m from Long Island, New York. As a child, New York City was basically the only city that existed to me. Now that I’m older, I am still just as enamored with it.
I decided to seriously pursue a career in fashion one day when I was on a field trip to the Met with my art history class and decided to instead take an excursion to Barneys. I think that says a lot about me. To be fair, we had six hours to look at two exhibits, and one can only look at Roman ruins for so long. When I’m not shopping (or almost getting myself expelled), I enjoy reading, listening to music and ingesting excessive amounts of tea.
My personal style is hard to condense because it encompasses so many styles. For me, fashion is a creative outlet, so it is always changing with my mood. I love leather jackets, dainty lace dresses, skinny jeans and statement jewelry.
For this look I styled a black high-neck lace top with a pair of distressed jeans and black pointed toe heels with mesh cutouts. I accessorized with an adorable little bow choker as well as a bangle that reads “Hello” that I thought was very fitting for my introduction.
