Hi! My name is Shauna Golden and I’m currently a sophomore studying journalism at Quinnipiac University. This is my first time as a Style Guru and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead this semester!
I’ve always loved fashion and expressing myself through clothes. When I was three I even begged my mom to let me wear a Minnie Mouse costume to the playground… definitely not my most fashionable moment but I was working on developing my own sense of style. I’d say I didn’t start actually developing a true sense of style until about seventh grade. I would probably describe my sense of fashion as girly and easy-going. I love classic pieces but I also love to try out new trends that come out every season.
For my first style post, I decided to put together an outfit that was cute and comfortable at the same time. With the end of summer coming along, I wanted to go with something that was light and breezy. I love being able to put an outfit together that looks effortlessly chic.
I paired a layered chiffon royal blue tank top with a pair of wide leg, paisley printed pants. For shoes, I opted for a pair of brown strappy wedges, since they give me a little bit of height without the pain of heels.
Printed pants are a huge trend right now and I have to say at first I was a little scared to try them out myself because I wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull it off, but I absolutely love them! I love that the print is so bold and pairs well with a simple solid colored top.
For accessories I opted for a couple of Alex and Ani bracelets and a simple bar necklace that has an ‘S’ on it (I’m obsessed with all things monogram). I wanted the pants to be the main focus of the outfit, so I tried not to have any other pieces that were too crazy.
I love that you can really express yourself through your own sense of style and let your personality shine through. I am so happy to be a part of CollegeFashionista, and I can’t wait to share all of my Fashionista moments with you guys!
