Hello, everyone! My name is Shelby Quast. I am currently a junior at the beautiful palm tree filled University of South Florida, majoring in Marketing.
Although marketing isn’t exactly in the fashion industry, it is the closest thing my school offers. I plan to transfer to graduate school to get an education in Fashion Merchandising. My goal after all of my schooling is to find my way into a stylist position, whether as a personal stylist or a stylist for any sort of production.
For me, fashion wasn’t always what I cared about. It wasn’t until high school that I started to strongly care about what I was wearing. I was one of those teenage girls that obsessed over celebrities and wanted to be just like them. That’s basically what led me to my love for fashion. Therefore, I have people like Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus ( I grew up watching Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana) to thank for my passion. Now that I am older, and sadly those shows have ended, I have developed my own personal style that I hope continues to grow with me.
Today, I am wearing my favorite pair of distressed denim ankle jeans. To contrast the edgy jeans, I added a flowy peplum top from Urban Outfitters with a lace bralette underneath for extra detail. As for my shoes, I wanted something to keep it casual, so I’m wearing an army green pair of quilted booties. To top off my outfit, I included my adorable puppy, Bradley. My outfits are almost always girly, but today, I decided to tame it down a little.
I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to be a Style Guru. Being here in Florida, your chances of having a fashion gig are a lot slimmer because this isn’t the biggest state for fashion (not like New York City or London). With that being said, I am going to show what Florida fashion has to offer. Maybe one day Florida will rank among the best. I can already tell this is going to be a fun summer, possibly the best yet! Now back to the palm trees and beaches!
