Hello! My name is Sherina Carty and I’m born and raised in England. I’m studying fashion buying with a minor in design at De Montfort University. I study in one of the most diverse cities in the country. And we have students from all walks of life and different parts of the world, all expressing their RAD styles that I hope to capture and share we you all.
Over the years, my style has changed and things I wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing before, I’m would totally wear now. I actually use to be a bit of a tomboy back in the day. Around about the age of nine or 10 I started to discover my love for fashion that has continued to grow immensely. On my 11th birthday, using the money I received, I bought my first sewing machine, which I still use to this day. I love making clothing, bags and customizing things that I already own, whether its shoes, a T-shirt or anything I can lay my hands on—but within reason, of course.
For me, style inspiration comes from many different sources. Whether it’s someone or something I see on the street, my favourite fashion magazines, Instagram and websites, I tend to stalk the Fashion One TV channel that I’m obsessed with. It is all a great source of inspiration for me. Also, Fashion One TV channel gives me the opportunity to watch Fashion Week from the comfort of my own home. Although it would be great to go to fashion week, I can stay up to date with what is happening in the world of fashion, the current trends, up and coming trends and the season’s key pieces—as well as all the movers and shakers in the fashion world.
So here we are and my style has changed over the years and so have the people that influence my style inspiration. My current style influencers are fashion designers Victoria Beckham, Chanel, Diane Von Furstenberg and style bloggers, Olivia Palermo and Dani Song. They all rock or create amazing style I like to recreate or incorporate into my own style.
Now this is my first time working with CollegeFashionista and I’m very happy to be a part of this super RAD team this summer. I hope to bring you Fashionistas/os some great style and beauty articles over the summer so enjoy and here’s to a RAD summer!!
