Hey guys, my name is Shey Aponte and this is my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I am currently a junior Marketing Communications major with a minor in Women and Gender Studies at Ithaca College. I am super excited to be back on Ithaca’s campus and scouting out some of the best fall fashion. Next semester, I am traveling abroad to Prague and can’t wait to uncover the beautiful fashion finds of the Czech Republic!
Clothes have always been a focal part of my life. I mean, you wear clothes every day so why not put in the time and effort it takes to pull off an awesome outfit?! My closet is equipped with a variety of really cool and eccentric pieces (some I haven’t even worn yet) but in my mind, I am always creating and shaping different looks together. For example, the sweater dress that I am wearing in the above photos is a vintage piece I found in my mom’s closet. I fell in love when I saw it and immediately thought of a million different ways I could wear it.
I really love one of a kind pieces that you don’t normally see on the street. Clothing like this is fun and makes getting dressed an experience rather than an ordeal. I decided to pair this holey sweater with a pair of high-waisted, ripped jeans, whose holes seem to be getting bigger and bigger with each wear. To complete the outfit I pulled out these awesome navy blue velvet boots I purchased for $30 dollars and threw on some colorful vintage rings, which are part of my extensive ring collection. A sweater dress like this is a great staple for fall. You might think, “Wait, how can a sweater with holes all over it possibly keep a gal warm come winter?” Well, look no further because I could easily pair it with a black long sleeve turtleneck to keep warm, which in turn could also take the outfit to whole other level of chic. Problem solved. Now I am re-imagining this sweater dress in the dead of winter paired with a pair of black wool tights, thick socks, chunky boots and a light black turtleneck underneath it. Great, I’ll keep that one tucked away for later.
Keep up with me this semester as I rant on and on about my love for clothing and shoes!
