Hi everyone! My name is Shirley and I’m currently a second year at UC Irvine where I am studying sociology. This is my first semester being a Style Guru for College Fashionista and I’m so excited! Despite the fact that I’m studying something that is unrelated to fashion, sociology actually helps bring an interesting perspective to it. I believe that by studying how our society functions, we will be able to delve deeper into finding our personal styles. I could go on about this for hours (and definitely will in future posts), but to keep it short- the norms that our societies have placed on fashion and expression have caused us to think too much about what others think about what we’re wearing, when in reality, who cares! You do you.
When I’m not studying for my classes, I’m either filming, editing or planning a video for my YouTube channel, or taking and editing pictures for my blog. My YouTube channel and blog revolve around the topics of fashion, travel and self-discovery/self-love. The most important thing I want my channel to do is to help others find love within themselves and to discover what they are passionate about. On another note, I love styling outfits for my lookbook videos and compiling a list of places to hit up in a certain city through my travel guide series. And when I’m not doing any of those things, I’m probably watching Parks & Recreation.
It’s hard to pinpoint what category my style fits into because honestly, it changes all of the time. But something that stays constant is my need to be comfortable in what I’m wearing! I’ve been really into pastels lately and I absolutely love my outfit pictured above. I paired my (new) favorite pastel pink skirt with my reliable striped tee from Abercrombie (similar) and my go-to white sneakers from Zara! I tied the outfit off with a western-inspired belt from ASOS. Simple and stylish but comfy, just the way I like it.
Feel free to follow me along on this journey as I share with you the coolest styles that I see around campus as well as some of my own outfits. Talk to you all soon!
