Hello, Fashionistas/os! Ready to hit the books again? A new school year has begun, as well as another RAD semester with CollegeFashionista. After a great summer interning for a start-up media production company in New York City, I’m happy to be back on campus with my friends, roommates and teachers, but I’m mostly excited about dressing for fall. Why? After taking a personal styling class, I have learned the color scheme that suits me best is autumn colors. Fall temperatures let any Fashionistas/os try out new and stylish outerwear without being bulky.
My fall closet consists of blazers, oxfords and vests. My favorite fall styles are simple—I like to add a blazer or vest to almost any outfit. Throughout the years, I have collected blazers that are perfect for the fall, ranging from preppy to indie, to professional styles. You can add a black structured blazer to just about anything. Pair it with ripped jeans and a graphic T-shirt or dress it up with a mini skirt, tight tank top and an eye-catching necklace. Any blazer can be both versatile and affordable, and it should definitely be a staple item in your closet.
According to the people that know me best, I’m a walking Zara catalog. Therefore, there is no doubt that my back to school/pre-fall outfit is my Zara poplin blue dress. I love this simple and stylish dress to make a great impression on the first day of school. To accessorize this dress, I added a colorful long tassel necklace to transition the last days of summer into fall. I am all for the typical Longchamp backpack. However, I tend to be very unconventional when it comes to backpacks for school. This semester, I’m rocking a Henri Bendel tote bag that is a spacious bag to carry my notebooks, agenda and of course, Overdressed, the book for my global trends in fashion class. Walking around campus in heels isn’t ideal, but you can still look tasteful with some black strap sandals that are comfortable, yet fashion forward. Never forget to wear your studious eyeglasses to give you that professional look!
Always keep an eye out on the upcoming fall trends Fashionistas/os, but don’t forget to hit the books!
