Hello fellow people that look into their closets full of clothes every day and realize they have nothing to wear! No fear, that’s what we Style Gurus are here for. My name is Sophie Herzing, and I’m a Creative Writing and Painting major at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. I love all things that involve making something out of nothing. I crave pulling from the constant inspiration around me, using my hands and my mind to morph those ideas into beautiful realities. That’s why fashion has always been a huge part of who I am. I am a blank canvas, and every morning I get the chance to make something brand new with the way I dress and accessorize myself. I’m really loud, really blonde, really enthusiastic, and really excited to share this part of who I am with you all.
My style tends to change based on my mood. I don’t believe that each person has to stick to one label. Some days I really want to wear some frayed jean shorts with a checked flannel around my waist. Some days I want to wear a classic button-down with some pearls. Then, there are days like the one pictured above where I wanted to be comfy, but still stylish. That’s why T-shirt dresses are my ultimate go-to. This long sleeved gray dress is super soft, a flattering length, and the perfect backdrop for some great accessories. I paired it with some special bangles that were handmade in Paros, Greece from a recent study abroad trip I took there. They complement the simple silver rings; one a tiny treasure from a flea market, the other infinity one a gift from a dear friend. I like to personalize my outfits with jewelry that has sentimental value to me, that way my look feels uniquely me. My J.Crew necklace keeps the look simple, but adds just a little sparkle. The shoes are where I make my one statement. These strappy sandals from American Eagle Outfitters are shimmery, comfy and complete the style.
Try this look out for yourself! Everyone should be excited to dress themselves every single day. Take a chance and remember to make each look completely and unapologetically you. I could not be more stoked to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I look forward to a RAD semester with everyone. (See what I did there?)
