My name is Tamie and I’m super psyched to be on the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru. I currently attend Brooklyn College, #GoBulldogs, as a business administration and marketing major. Attending a school and living in a place so eclectic and diverse is a blessing. Just from walking around on campus, there are so many muses to draw inspiration from.
My personal style jumps around, highly depending on the mood or vibe I want to give off. Outfits I wear tend to be a fusion of urban, edgy, and boho styles. Much of my inspiration comes from city street style and off-duty looks from celebrities and models. Living in NYC, where walking is the #1 way to move about, my outfits have to be comfy. Especially when in the groove of a collegiate schedule. Cause… who likes to feel restricted during a three-hour lecture?
Of course, my go-to outfit has to involve boyfriend jeans. High-waisted boyfriend jeans are a favorite to wear because it is very forgiving, especially for a foodie like myself. Also, loose-fitting denim in my mind is the more formal sweat pant or jogger pant. Although I am all for comfort, there’s no shame in looking a bit more polished. For the brown sweatshirt and jeans, I created a raw hem, which adds edge and effortlessness to the outfit. A fun DIY tip for petite body types: cut off the ends of your clothes to fit better. To elevate my basic outfit, I threw on fishnet tights, a thrifted fur coat, oversized black sunglasses from J.Crew, a Skagen watch, and my cold weather staple: black booties. My main way to add pizzazz to any outfit is through accessories, my nails, or makeup. Speaking of makeup, on my lips, I am wearing Urban Decay’s Vice lipstick 1993.
Stay tuned Fashionistas/os; this is the beginning of a great semester and new year!
