Hi, there! My name is Tara, and I’m honored that you clicked on my page! I just wrapped up my sophomore year at Indiana University, and currently I’m in denial of the fact that I’m already halfway done with college. At school, I’m a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, living with 120 other ladies who keep my life anything but ordinary. At home, I’m a daughter/sister/friend/shopper/photographer/sushi fanatic living in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. On a typical weekend over the summer, you’ll find me browsing Nordstrom Rack or the Urban Outfitters Outlet store in Lincoln Park (if you fellow Chicago girls were unaware of its existence, drop whatever you’re doing and go).
I’ve been in a committed relationship with fashion since the days of Britney and Justin. However, I’d have to say the obsession took off when I got my first sewing machine seven years ago. Since then, I’ve dedicated hundreds of yards of fabric, and thousands of pins, to get where I am today! Currently, I’m committing my time to studying Apparel Merchandising with minors in Business and Spanish. I also recently created a new Instagram account called @divine_by_day, where I feature pictures of anything fabulous that I happen to stumble upon in life.
I would describe my style as boho-city girl. I love experimenting with patterns, layering, color and texture to achieve a look that’s as laid-back as it is fashion-forward. Fashion would be nonexistent without variance. I’m always looking to find staple pieces that I can transform time and time again without facing the “outfit repeater” fiasco of Lizzie McGuire circa 2001. Clothing is an incredible tool for self-expression that allows for your personality and style to be seamlessly synonymous. For this reason, I’ve decided to dedicate this summer to documenting people’s personal style, and discovering the many stories behind them.
Overall, I’m beyond excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the CollegeFashionista summer internship program! The site is full of amazing gurus who have served as my inspiration to get started. I can’t wait for what this summer has in store!
