STYLE GURU BIO: Taylor Dixon

Hey Fashionistas/os! I am very excited to be an intern this semester for CollegeFashionista, where I will be writing articles on the latest trends around the University of Arkansas campus. I am from the small town of Magnet Cove, Arkansas and am currently attending my senior year as an Apparel Merchandising and Product Development major.

Being from such a small Arkansas town, I grew up trying to take an interest in all things country. Most people rode four-wheelers or went hunting, but the only thing that I really took interest in was the lake. I always felt as if I was the city girl at heart that was trapped in a small town. However, I knew that I had big dreams of one day living in a city such as New York and being able to truly show off my style without feeling out of the ordinary.

Growing up, I had a love for fashion. I always had people telling me that I had the best style or that I “had the best closet.” Growing up in Arkansas, there is no other option than being a huge Razorback fan. Because I grew up “Calling the Hogs” every Saturday of football season, I had known since I was a little girl that I was going to attend the University of Arkansas. Here, I have been through several major changes. I started my freshman year as Dietetics major, then Criminal Justice and then I went into Communication Disorders. I did not feel that any of these majors were a true fit for me, so I realized that I had a huge decision to make before my junior year started. I needed to decide exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and so I was encouraged to take a career development test to guide me in the right direction. After taking the career test, I knew instantly that I was born to be in the Fashion Industry.

My love of fashion began at a very young age, and so did my sense of creativity and individuality. Throughout life, my biggest dream has been to work in visual merchandising as a window display designer for Macy’s in New York City. I know now that I want to work as hard as possible to achieve this dream, or at least something similar. Since I have been in the field, I have truly decided that I would love to open up a boutique of my own with beach and summer style garments.

My favorite style would have to be dark colors with a pop of color for effect. You can order a very fashionable and laid back style like mine online. Simply order gladiator sandals, a choker necklace, bright shorts and a kimono.

Watch for new articles on the latest trends from me each month on the CollegeFashionista website, and thank you in advance for your support!
