Greeting fellow Fashionistas. My name is Taylor Salmons, and I am a freshman at University of California- Santa Barbara. Currently, I am majoring in English and minoring in art. I’m originally from San Diego and have lived there my entire life, so transitioning from one coastal town to another wasn’t too hard of an adjustment. Although I miss the air of possibility of what a big city holds, I have come to enjoy the perks of a small town.
I have adjusted myself to Santa Barbara’s laid back style, but when I get a weekend away I take the opportunity to dress it up. Recently, I spent a beautiful Sunday morning at Melrose Open Market in Los Angeles. I threw a leather jacket over my Wildfox pullover and slipped into some high-waisted black jeans and my go to white Nike sneakers. I thrifted the sunglasses at the market and the leather jacket is a vintage hand-me-down. The flowers were an impromptu gift from my boyfriend (insert heart eyes emoji).
Fashion has always been a big part of my life. I have hundreds of sketches of outfits I made as a young girl when I was infatuated by the glamorous styles of movie stars and models. I would look into store windows with my eyes glittering as my mother dragged me away. As I’ve matured, I’ve learned how to incorporate this passion into my everyday life. Whether I’m throwing a fuzzy sweater over a slip dress or pairing heeled booties with boyfriend jeans, I’m always trying to challenge my own creativity and find new ways to express myself.
