Hi everyone! My name is Taylor Metheny and I am a sophomore Fashion and Retail Studies major at The Ohio State University. Ohio State is amazing because there is such a diverse group of people, resulting in unique style everywhere. This allows me to take fashion risks and embrace my true style. Since beginning college, I have developed and matured my particular look.
My personal style is natural with a classic twist, seen here with my absolute wardrobe must-have: a little black dress. Little black dresses are amazing because they come in all styles, ranging from casual to formal. There is an LBD for every person and every occasion. I can always seem to talk myself into any black dress in the fitting room knowing I will always find an excuse to wear it.
I styled my LBD with natural accents. I’m a lover of denim because it makes any outfit casual and fun. I chose this denim jacket because the embellishments on the shoulders add an understated edgy vibe to an otherwise quiet outfit. Stick with a lighter tone in your jacket if you want to keep things fresh, so it doesn’t feel too much like fall (even though we know it’s right around the corner). I opted for loud accessories with my leather double-wrap watch and a statement necklace. For my shoes, I chose a pair of black braided jute wedges. Braided jute can often give a more clean and polished appearance than the classic cork wedge. To finish off my look, I grabbed a brown leather tote on my way out the door.
I kept my makeup simple with my normal day-to-day look. For my eyes, I used Bare Minerals’ Celestine eye shadow all over my lids and Verve from Urban Decay’s Naked2 pallet on my inner corners to brighten the eye. I finished off my makeup with black-brown eyeliner and black mascara.
This look is a great representation of my personal style and personality. I’m usually quite lax and calm, but I am never afraid to be a little loud and out there.
