My name is Tegan Davis and I am a sophomore advertising student at the University of Florida. As I enter my third semester as a Style Guru, all I can think about is how much I have changed since I started writing for CollegeFashionista last year. The best part about being young is the amount of growth you experience in such a short time. Most of the realization leads people to being disgusted by what they did six months previous.
My style is ever evolving–driven by gut feelings and a hunt for steals. No matter what trend I decide to take on, I always want my clothes to reflect my personal style. In this outfit I am sporting a striped jumpsuit (I’m in love with the back), chunky flatform sneakers and oversized sunglasses. One of my favorite fashion quotes by Iris Apfel is, “The worst fashion faux pas is looking in the mirror and seeing somebody else.” Fashion is incredibly personal and reflects almost everything about somebody. A wardrobe is like a painting palette and the result can be as different as each person’s thumbprint. The rich history and individuality of fashion fascinates me most of all.
After interning for NYLON magazine this winter, I have learned that my desire to be a part of fashion is unwavering. I have also learned that New York has some bomb bagels and an intimidating amount of attractive and stylish people. People are not exaggerating when they say that New York is the city that never sleeps. It’s teeming with energy and creative minds. I am excited to be a part of it all soon.
CollegeFashionista has given me the opportunity to explore and document the style around me. I am so thankful to be a part of it and I would recommend it to anyone interested in fashion. I am excited to see where the spring semester will take me. See you out there!
