Hey Fashionistas! My name is Tiffanie Snyder, and this is my first semester as a Style Guru. Studying Communications at New York University, I thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in social media—and people watching, ‘cause the communication majors are the coolest campus Fashionistas (I am a little biased though…sorry). I am minoring in Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology (otherwise known as BEMT). Outside of class, you can find me participating in events with my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, or chilling in one of the many cafés around campus.
Before I tell you about my fashion preferences, here are some random tidbits about me: I am a night owl. My favorite movies are Thelma and Louise, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Uptown Girls (but the list is forever changing). I am a summer baby, born on the fourth of July. Bath time is always my favorite time. If I had to pick a favorite food, it would undoubtedly be ice cream. Forever. My beverage of choice is chai tea—iced, hot or even in smoothie form (I recently discovered Organic Avenue makes chai smoothies). My favorite scent is cardamom, which I first sniffed this summer whilst creating my own perfume at La Maison Molinard, in Grasse, Provence. Even though I love to travel, I can occasionally be somewhat of a homebody.
Onto fashion! There are many people, places and occasions that affect how I want to dress. The most fashionable woman in my life is my mother. She has shaped my wanting outfits to match, and my adoration of the color blue. Since I am petite, I often look at petite celebrities for style inspiration. My favorite petite celeb style is definitely Vanessa Hudgens. She always nails the perfect bohemian-goddess look. In terms of the places that affect my style: New York makes me want to wear black constantly (you feel like a chic ninja), the gym is my number one place to wear leggings and beaches make me want to dress like I am going to Coachella. There have been many occasions that influence my style, including football games, concerts, film festivals and camping. If I had to attend one occasion for the rest of my life, I’d want to attend summer weddings. I am a sucker for dresses, and summer weddings are set in a sea of dresses.
My look today combines urban living with a seasonal summer dress. The Ralph Lauren wedges give a city-vibe to my blue, off-the-shoulders dress. I found my jacket at Olive & Bette’s a few years ago, and I love how versatile it is. The amber rose ring I got at the Portobello market in London (if you’ve ever seen the movie Notting Hill, it’s the market Hugh Grant walks through). There are plenty of other similar rings online to choose from.
