Hey there! My name is Valerie Cammack, I’m currently a sophomore studying fashion merchandising at Kent State University, and I love every second of it! This will be my third semester as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista, and I’m also so excited to say that I will be a social media intern this spring. After completing two semesters with CollegeFashionista, I can honestly say that I’ve learned so much. I have become more creative with my photography and writing, and I’ve also gained a real passion for social media and public relations. It’s so exciting to connect with other Style Gurus not only at my school, but through social media platforms as well.
I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember, but every now and then, I still scroll through pictures of my high school days. It’s amusing to see those cringe worthy outfits that seemed so good at the time (you know we all had them) and see how different my style is now. I would like to think that my personal style has matured significantly just within the past two years. Today, I would describe my style as simple and edgy. I try to fill my closet with pieces that are versatile and can be dressed up or down.
I’m also such a makeup buff. You can always find me watching the newest YouTube tutorial from my favorite beauty gurus. I can easily spend an entire paycheck at Sephora or other beauty stores, and I love trying new looks every day. Lipsticks are my weakness; lately I can’t get enough of the Colourpop ultra matte lips. I think a cup of coffee and a seat in front of my makeup mirror is the perfect start to my day.
The olive green shift dress I’m wearing is the perfect example of a versatile piece. I love this dress because it can be used to create so many different looks. Change up the tights, jacket or jewelry, and you have an arsenal of looks ready to go. On this day, I chose to pair this dress with a shearling lined jacket. I have been all over the shearling trend for this winter. The fur look adds the perfect amount of edge to an outfit, and it’s nice and cozy for the cold winter months. I also decided on a silver tassel statement necklace. In the past, I always stuck to gold jewelry, but recently, I’m all about the silver boho accessory trend. I finished the look with my black cutout booties before heading out for a quick CollegeFashionista shoot with my family.
I’m so excited to see what this semester has in store. Make sure to check back here every month for a glimpse of the fabulous street style at Kent State.
