What’s up, Fashionistas? My name is Valerie Kadysheva and this is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am a freshman at the University of Connecticut and am majoring in business. Although fashion is not where my career path is headed, I still am very excited to be a part of this internship and have always secretly wanted to work in the fashion/media industry.
As a little girl, I have always loved putting together outfits and playing dress up. Not much has changed since then, because whenever a certain outfit comes to my mind, I go for it. Right now, it is a little bit harder to mix and match everything because the winter weather up here in Connecticut is freezing, and most of the time I’m tempted to put on a warm sweater and some jeans. Still, I’m going to try my best to add some flare to my usual winter ensemble for this semester. Many of the brands and retail stores range from Calvin Klein, American Eagle Outfitters, and Forever 21. What I love about these brands is that they have different categories of style which is good if you want to express yourself in different ways because I believe fashion is a great way to express oneself. Another thing I love about these brands is that you can buy some items at a low price or for sale, especially at Forever 21. With the ’90s look coming back into style, such as ripped baggy denim jeans, I am starting to lean my style statement more towards very cool and laid back. I am a fan of light colors, such as beige, white, and light blue, especially in the sweater department. It’s a little too cold for jackets, so a nice beige coat and a comfy wool sweater are a must. Lace-up high heel boots are also something I love to put on with any outfit. They are actually very comfortable to wear and did I already say, can go with any outfit. Also, I totally forgot to mention that scarves are one of my favorite accessories to add onto outfits, especially in the wintertime.
Anyways, I can’t wait to see how this semester unfolds and see all the cool styles my fellow Style Gurus will be sharing.
