STYLE GURU BIO: Victoria Gevurtz

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Victoria Gevurtz, and I am a rising junior at Indiana University. Originally a Kinesiology major with the intention of becoming a physical therapist, I quickly changed my mind by the end of my freshman year. I am currently Journalism major studying Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Marketing.

Prior to attending a university with more than 40,000 students on campus, I went to a small all-girls private uniformed school for 12 years. A natural born jock, my closet consisted of T-shirts, spandex and numerous pairs of sneakers. This trend only continued in college where I was a recruited athlete. Despite the early morning practices and lack of time to get ready, I began to take mental notes of styles I liked on campus. After being a collegiate athlete for three semesters, I retired a few pairs of spandex and finally started dressing the way I had wanted to.

A native of the suburbs of Philadelphia, I have always been around big cities. My sights have always been set on living in New York and this summer, my dreams are finally becoming a reality! For the summer months, I will be interning in The Big Apple and will finally be able to call myself a New Yorker.

Instead of being nervous about what my internship responsibilities entail or meeting the people I will be working with, I’m more concerned with what to wear on my first day in the office! On a more casual level, I am usually seen rocking my scuffed up patent leather Dr. Martens with a pair of leggings and an oversized shirt and/or sweater. If I were to describe my style, I definitely gravitate towards darker colors and an edgier and grungier look. But unfortunately, I left my Dr. Martens in Philadelphia for the summer and am ready to look business professional!

For my first day of work, I decided to wear a black textured flared skirt from H&M, paired with a lightweight blouse and black leather cutout ankle boots. Cutout boots are one of my favorite current fashion trends and are a way for me to keep my outfit on the edgier side while staying business professional. My makeup is neutral, rocking Viva Glam II by MAC for a lipstick paired with MAC’s lip liner Whirl. During the hot New York City summers, there is no way I am letting the humidity take control of my curls! To avoid the frizzy mess, I put my hair up in a messy bun with a simple and neutral headband. And of course, I couldn’t go without my tortoiseshell Ray-Ban Aviators!

I am so excited to be joining the CollegeFashionista family and can’t wait to keep you up to date on the street styles of New York City!
