Hi everyone! My name is Victoria Pietsch–although I’m more commonly known as Tori– and I’m a sophomore at Cornell University studying fashion design management and communication. While Ithaca, New York is nothing short of beautiful, I hold a unique love for my hometown: Groton, Massachusetts. Coming from a small town just outside of Boston, I uphold several of the common Massachusetts stereotypes; while my Boston accent may not be strong, I do say “wicked,” I’m incredibly loyal to Boston sports teams, and I possess a unique affinity for Dunkin’ Donuts.
In my free time, you’ll catch me taking excessive amounts of photos of one object to achieve the perfect look for my blog aesthetic, singing, playing the piano, working with children whenever possible, drawing flowers, eating Mexican food, or petting dogs–but most commonly petting dogs. I love to write. I spent my freshman year studying as a journalism major, but I love to write about fashion more.
I’m beyond excited to begin my first semester as a Style Guru this spring. I’ve had a love for fashion for as long as I can remember. I wish I were joking, but in the eighth grade, I wrote a column called “Style Guru” for the school newspaper, so I guess my life really has come full circle at only 20 years old. For me, fashion has always been there as a confidence booster, a creative outlet, an artistic touch, an outward display of my personality and taste, and above all, a physical representation of the person I’m becoming and the person I want to be. If my fashion tastes can inspire you along the way, the 13-year-old version of myself and the Style Guru you see before you will simultaneously never be prouder.
To start, I thought I’d give some professional-quality photographic justice to an outfit I’ve worn what seems like a 100 times this past semester. Here, I’m wearing a maroon, Urban Outfitters, corduroy, button-down jumper dress over a white T-shirt, with (and without) a hooded, black cardigan from Brandy Melville and a mini Fjallraven Kanken backpack. While the dress is out of stock, you can find a gorgeous zipper variety (for 50 percent off). The scuffed-up, well-loved boots are Nine West from DSW, but you can find a similar pair just about anywhere.
Fair warning: My style, like my Insta-blog aesthetic, remains fairly inconsistent. I dress for the occasion, for the weather, for my mood, and for overall practicality. What I can promise remains the same, however, is my passion for trends and my love for a good outfit.
