Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Victoriana White, a Pinterest-obsessed journalism major with a minor in communication. I’m currently a junior at the University at Albany and I am so excited to show the dope fashion around campus as a Style Guru this spring!
Ever since I was young I’ve always followed my own path and have been really independent, so when it came to choosing a career, freedom, traveling, originality and creativity were the most important factors. This led me to becoming a fashion journalist, and I. am. so. excited. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I have always been passionate about the fashion industry.
My love for fashion really stemmed from following in my mother’s footsteps. She had always worked in retail, and her talent really came to life when she did visual work like styling mannequins. I picked up this skill very early, and have been exploring my visual, creative eye ever since.
At 18, I launched a fashion line where I was re-vamping vintage Levi’s, creating one-of-a-kind pieces showcasing the originality of the person wearing it. I learned so much while owning my own business. It gave me the independence I craved, the networking skills to kill it, and it revived my math skills. It took me a little while to figure myself out, but I’ve learned so much along the way.
My style ranges from edgy to classic chic to bohemian. My current obsession though is Kanye’s line of distressed “homeless” streetwear. You can see his line here. He may be buggin’ charging over a thousand dollars for a shirt with some holes in it, but homeboy knows what he’s doing. Tight, spandex clothes in neutral shades are so hot right now. Kind of ashamed to admit this, but I’ve been loving what’s he’s done to Kim Kardashian’s style throughout the years. But ever since North came out the womb, I’ve been dying over her style. Seriously, look at this cutie! Sorry, Kimye. I also can’t even deal with her little baby Yeezys, ugh.
For this oversized look (seen above) I chose an edgier look. I love oversized sweaters more than life itself, and I’m currently obsessing over thigh-highs. My inspiration for this look came from Kourtney Kardashian SLAYING here.
Shop my look:
Sweater: American Eagle
Thigh-high boots: Aldo
Hat: Aldo
Some of my favorite fashion brands are Prada, Balmain, For Love and Lemons, Chanel and All Saints. I love accessories and I am bag-obsessed. I believe a fab handbag can really pull any look together. My favorite bags are my royal blue Chanel classic 2.55 bag (which you will see soon enough), and my Black Celine phantom. I will take these bad boys to the grave.
I happened to realize my true passion while studying fashion merchandising at Oneonta State. With a few classes, I quickly realized what I’ve always been meant to do: write. So I transferred to UAlbany and have been loving it so far. I can’t wait to showcase the rad fashions that are on and around campus for you guys! Stay chic, my friends.
