Hi! I’m Zoe and I am a junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I study fashion merchandising and marketing. This is my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I am excited to get started!
Going into college, I really had no idea what I wanted to do. All I knew was that I was good at two things: violin and putting together cute outfits. I didn’t really see myself sitting in an orchestra for the rest of my life, so I decided to give fashion a try. I started college knowing nothing about the major I was going into, but now I can say that I have grown to love it and have realized that it is so much more than just putting together outfits. I have truly found a passion in all things fashion and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My style really changes depending on what I’m into at the time, but one thing that has remained constant is the fact that I like to find the best price for everything I buy. Growing up, my mom was always a very savvy shopper, so I learned everything I know from her. We would spend hours in our favorite thrift stores scouring the racks for designer deals, and that is something I still love to do. I never pay full price for anything, and some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe have come from thrift and consignment shops.
I am very inspired by my surroundings. Wherever I am at the time, I look to see what people are wearing and I draw from that. I also find inspiration by going out and exploring. My home is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and often I will go around the city with my friends and try to find new boutiques and little shops that we have never been to. Finding these gems in the city that I know so well always gives me a fresh burst of inspiration. I also look to my favorite bloggers, YouTubers and Instagrammers out there to find inspiration as well. My favorite blogger at the moment is Samantha Maria. I love her minimalistic, sophisticated yet refreshing style.
Since it’s summer, it has been very hot here in Pittsburgh. That is why I chose to wear one of my newest obsessions: rompers. I used to hate them, but I think they are the cutest things and are perfect for hot weather. I got this one from Aerie. On top of that, I wore a thrifted kimono and paired it with my TOMS shoes wedges and a bag from PacSun.
So there’s just a little bit about me. I am excited to have this opportunity and to see where it goes!
