As much as I try and branch out and wear more color, I always find myself gravitating towards anything black. Although I like to play around with different fashion trends, I tend to stick to classic pieces and neutral tones. Black just happens to fall into this category. The best part of black and neutrals is they will never go out of style. I am much like Anna Wintour when it comes to black on black outfits, I always need to find some sort of colors to integrate into the look so I don’t look like I’m heading to a funeral.
Lanvin is by far one of my favorite designers, which is where I got my inspiration for this look. In Lanvin’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, Alber Elbaz stuck to a neutral color pallet, which I was absolutely in love with! For almost every black on black look, some sort of neutral accessory was paired with it, whether it be a purse, a pair of boots or jewelry. As I stated earlier, I love color, but when I imagine fall I automatically think of neutrals. Whoever said that blacks and browns don’t go together is a liar! There’s something about mixing browns, taupes, blacks and cremes. They blend together so well and it creates the perfect fall look.
Taking this inspiration from Lanvin, I paired a black vintage-looking tie-front top with a black leather trimmed pencil skirt, along with my black suede booties. To further emulate the Lanvin collection, I accessorized this look with a beige floppy hat, a light taupe handbag and gold polarized aviators. This look is super easy to recreate and you can easily transition this from day to night, or vise versa!
